Grape Varieties : Sauvignon Blanc

Sauvignon Blanc is an important white variety, and is widely planted in Bordeaux and the Loire. In Bordeaux it is often blended with semillon to produce both sweet and dry wines, while in the Loire it is used alone to make famous wines such as Sancerre.

Sauvignon Blanc is also found in Italy, California, New Zealand and Australia - indeed, in nearly all wine producing regions to some extent.

The typical Sauvignon Blanc wine is soft, herbaceous and sometimes complex.
